​The Road of Corinth

ARCHELON ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation, die sich seit 1983 dem Schutz und der Erforschung von Meeresschildkröten und ihren Lebensräumen in Griechenland widmet.

Die Hauptaktivitäten von ARCHELON umfassen:

 Überwachung und Forschung: Systematische Erfassung und Schutz der Nistplätze der Unechten Karettschildkröte (Caretta caretta) an den wichtigsten Stränden Griechenlands, darunter Zakynthos und die Bucht von Kyparissia.

Rettung und Rehabilitation: Betrieb des Sea Turtle Rescue Centre in Glyfada, Attika, wo verletzte und kranke Meeresschildkröten gepflegt und nach ihrer Genesung wieder in die Freiheit entlassen werden.

Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Bildung: Durchführung von Bildungs- und Aufklärungsprogrammen für Schulen und die breite Öffentlichkeit, um das Bewusstsein für den Schutz der Meeresschildkröten und die Bedeutung der marinen Biodiversität zu schärfen.
